본 연구는 장애인의 신체활동 참여 제고의 효과적이고 성공적인 정책수립을 위한 경험적 근거를 제시하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위한 방편으로 주관적 건강, 자립생활능력, 지각된 사회경제적 지위, 전반적 생활만족이 신체활동 참여에 유의한 영향력을 미칠 것이라는 가설을 바탕으로 이론적 모형을 설정하고, 이를 경험적 자료로 검증하였다. 자료 및 표본은 한국장애인고용공단 고용개발원에서 보건복지부 등록 장애인을 대상으로 2008년부터 2010년까지 매년 추적 조사를 실시한 장애인고용패널조사(Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled: PSED)의 3차년도 자료를 이용하였고, 조사에 응답한 지체장애인 2,254명의 자료를 최종 분석 대상으로 하였다. 가설을 검증하기 위하여 위계적 로지스틱 회귀분석을 적용하였고, 분석 프로그램은 SPSS 21.0을 사용하였다. 이때 통계적 유의수준은 α=.05 값으로 설정하였다. 연구결과, 주관적 건강, 자립생활능력, 전반적 생활만족은 신체활동 참여에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 지각된 사회경제적 지위는 신체활동 참여에 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 존재하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과에 따라, 본 논의에서는 장애인 체육 현장과 이론에 미치는 시사점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to suggest an empirical evidence to establish a policy which is effective and successful to improve participation in physical activity of people with physical disabilities. As the expedient to establish the policy, theoretical model was set up and was verified by experimental data based on the hypothesis which in relationship of subjective health, independent living ability, socio-economic position, overall life satisfaction and participation in physical activity. Data and a sample was utilized 2,254 people with physical disabilities who responded to surveys which the third year’s data of the Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED) conducted a follow-up survey by Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled Employment Development Institute from 2008 to 2010, targeting registered people with physical disabilities in Ministry of Health and Welfare. For verification of the hypothesis, hierarchical logistic regression was applied, and SPSS 21.0 was utilized. At this time, the statistically level of significance was set up as α=.05. As the result of the study, subjective health, independent living ability, overall life satisfaction influenced a positive effect on participation in physical activity of people with physical disabilities. But socio-economic position did not have a significant influence.
