이 연구에서는 진지한 여가의 척도가 개인의 주관적인 판단에 의한 절대적(absolute)으로 측정하게 되어 있는 것에 착안하여 상대적으로 평가가 가능한 진지한 여가 문항과의 비교를 통해 상대적 평가 방식 척도의 활용성을 검토해보려는 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구를 위해 전국대학테니스동아리연맹(KUTCA)이 2015년 8월 양구에서 주최한 전국대회 참가자 중 총300여명을 유의표집하고 설문을 진행하였다. 응답이 불성실한 14부를 제외한 286부의 설문지를 활용하여 EFA, CFA, 신뢰도분석, t-test, 상관분석 및 회귀분석 등의 통계분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 단일문항으로 구성된 상대적 진지한 여가와 기존의 진지한 여가 척도는 동일한 개념을 측정하는 것이라고 판단하기에 충분한 상관을 확보하지 못했으며, 각 척도를 활용한 진지한 여가의 측정치에도 차이가 있어 두 척도는 차이가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 진지한 여가의 모든 하위요인에서 절대적 평가가 높은 평가수준을 나타내고 있었다. 또한 절대적 및 상대적인 두 척도를 활용하여 진지한 여가가 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 절대적 평가를 한 진지한 여가 척도가 삶의 질에 대한 더 높은 설명력을 확보했다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the applications of the relative scale of serious leisure. The purposive sampling method was used to garner 300 questionnaires from college tennis club players. After excluding 14 incomplete questionnaires, data analyses were conducted using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability test, t-test, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Findings indicated that the relative scale was different from the previous absolute scale because of correlations. Furthermore, there were significant differences in the means between absolute and relative scales of serious leisure. Means of absolute serious leisure scale was higher than it of relative scale. Additionally, serious leisure measured by the absolute scale had more power to explain participants’ quality of life than did the relative scale. Theoretical and practical implications were addressed in the discussion section.
