국가적 단위의 스포츠 사업이 시행되지 않았어도 ‘소리 없는 아우성’처럼 여자야구단이 전국적으로 생겨나고 남성만의 종목으로 여겨졌던 야구가 ‘그녀들의 리그’로 운동장에서 시작되었다. 야구가 하고 싶었던 소녀들은 성인이 되고 아줌마가 되어서 야구배트를 잡고 슬라이딩을 연습할 수 있게 되었다. 본고는 한국여자야구의 선구자인 안향미 선수의 삶을 통해 한 개인의 삶의 영향력이 확장되어 사회적으로 새로운 결과물을 만들어 낼 수 있었던 사실을 논하였고 이에 대한 결론은 첫째, 안향미는 야구인으로서 입문하는 과정에서 겪은 일련의 사태를 통하여 자율적 주체(self sense of sovereignty)로써의 ‘여성’을 인식하였다. 둘째, 안향미가 독자적인 여성야구팀을 만들어 활동한 것은 체육사에 있어서 페미니즘의 실천적 의의를 지니고 있다. 셋쨰, 안향미의 야구 생애는 불리한 스포츠 여건을 극복하여 여성차별 규정을 없애고 여성스포츠 문화를 발전시킨 의의를 지니고 있다. 끝으로 안향미는 유명한 남성 스포츠 선수이거나 또 많은 생애를 살아온 것은 아니지만 한국 최초의 여성 야구인이라는 특이한 이력의 소유자로 동시대를 살아가는 많은 여성들을 야구장으로 끌어낸 장본인이다.

True, in spite of steady increases in women’s participation in sports, there hasn’t been enough corresponding movements to deal with the history of woman sports. This research recognized why women’s athletics, which hasn’t been focused on, should be studied, and found out the cultural meaning of women’s athletics and analyze its meaning in the sports history by taking a look at the life of a female baseball player, Ahn Hyang-Mi, in the light of sports feminism. First, how she became a baseball player and what she went through as a female baseball player is significant in terms of the Korean women’s sports culture. Second, she established an independent female baseball team, which has practical meanings of feminism in the sports history. Third, her life as a baseball player is a good example to overcome disadvantages in sprots, thus a significant meaning in the sports history. Taking all of these into consideration, Ahn Hyang-Mi is the one women played an essential role in improving the culture of women’s sports in the field of Korean sports.
