무용참가는 개인이 사회화 과정을 통해 겪게 되는 매우 독특하고 선택적인 경험이다. 이 과정에는 다양한 환경적 요인들이 작용하는데 이 연구는 의미있는 사회화 환경으로서 무용교사의 자질이 학생의 무용참가에 미치는 영향을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 독립 변인과 종속 변인을 매개하는 변인으로서 무용태도를 설정하였고, 종속 변인인 무용참가를 직접 참가와 간접 참가의 두 차원으로 분류하여, 무용교사의 자질과 무용태도가 각각의 차원에 미치는 영향력을 규명하고자 하였다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 이 연구에서는 무용참가자를 조사 대상의 모집단으로 선정하였다. 1998년 6월부터 7월까지 유의 표집 방법을 이용하여 서울특별시와 경기도에 소재하고 있는 예술계 중·고등학교에 재학 중인 318명의 학생들이 유효 표본으로 수집되었다. 무용교사의 자질은 표준화 검사지인 박용헌(1994)의 교사 자질 평가지를 이용하여 측정하였다. 무용태도와 무용 간접 참가는 Edwards(1973), 김동진(1988)이 스포츠 분야에서 사용하였던 설문 문항을 무용상황에 적합하게 변형하여 측정하였으며, 사전 검사를 통해 구성 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증한 후 이용하였다. 가설 검증에 이용된 통계 방법은 회귀분석과 경로분석 방법이었으며, 각 가설은 유의수준 α=.05에서 검증되었다. 이상의 과정을 통해 이 연구에서 도출한 결론은 다음과 같다. 1. 무용교사의 자질은 학생의 무용태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 2. 무용교사의 자질은 학생의 무용참가 시간과 기간, 그리고 무용 간접 참가에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 3. 무용교사의 자질과 학생의 무용태도 및 무용참가 시간, 기간, 간접참가 간에는 긍정적인 인과 관계가 있었다. 무용교사의 자질은 학생의 무용참가에 직·간접으로 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

The degree to which each social institution affects the learning process depends in the role being learned, and the person’s stage in the life cycle. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between quality of dance teacher as a significant socializing setting and student’s dance participation. Dance attitude was established as a intervening variable, and dance participation as a dependent variable was observed in two dimensions, direct and indirect participation. Using a purposive sampling method 318 students majoring dance in art and performance junior and high schools located in Seoul and Kyunggi-do were selected from June to July, 1998. Quality of Dance teacher was measured by the scales designed by Park(1994), and dance attitude and indirect dance participation by the scale based on Edwards(1973) and Kim(1988). Regression analysis method and path analysis method were used in order to test hypotheses. α level was .05. The conclusions were drawn as follows ; 1. Quality of dance teacher influenced on student’s dance attitude positively. 2. Quality of dance teacher influenced on student’s time and duration of dance participation, and indirect participation positively. 3. There were positive causal relationships among quality of dance teacher, student’s dance attitude, and student’s time and duration of dance participation, and indirect participation. Quality of dance teacher influenced on student’s direct/indirect dance participation positively.
