역대 하계올림픽에서 메달을 획득한 97개 국가를 대상으로 문화지리학의 특성인 문화권, 종교, 언어, 인종과 McIntosh(1963)의 스포츠 유형 분류의 기능 스포츠, 극복 스포츠, 투쟁 스포츠간의 메달획득에 대한 비교·분석에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다. 서유럽·동유럽 러시아·앵글로 아메리카 문화권은 모든 스포츠 유형에서 메달 획득율이 높다. 서유럽 문화권은 극복 스포츠, 동유럽 러시아 문화권은 투쟁 스포츠, 앵글로 아메리카 문화권은 기능 스포츠에서 메달 획득율이 높다. 중국 문화권은 기능 스포츠와 투쟁 스포츠에서 서양 문화권들을 제외한 다른 문화권보다 메달 획득율이 높다. 라틴 아메리카·아랍 모슬렘 건조 문화권은 투쟁 스포츠에서 메달 획득율이 높다. 오스트레일리아 문화권은 극복 스포츠와 기능 스포츠의 메달 획득 잠재력이 높다. 그리스트교를 신봉하는 지역은 극복·기능·투쟁 스포츠에서 모두 메달 획득율이 높다. 그리스트교를 신봉하는 지역은 극복 스포츠와 기능 스포츠에서 메달 획득율이 높다. 불교를 신봉하는 지역은 극복 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 낮으며, 기능 스포츠와 투쟁 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 높다. 이슬람교를 신봉하는 지역은 기능 스포츠와 극복 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 낮으며, 투쟁 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 상대적으로 높다. 인도 유럽 어족은 극복·투쟁 스포츠 모두 메달 획득율이 높다. 인도 유럽 어족은 극복 스포츠의 메달 획득율이 높다. 우랄 알타이어족은 투쟁·기능스포츠의 메달 획득율이 높다. 중국 티베트 어족은 기능 스포츠의 메달 획득 잠재력이 높다. 코카서스 인종은 극복·기능·투쟁 스포츠 모두 메달 획득율이 높다. 코카서스 인종은 극복 스포츠의 메달 획득율이 높다. 몽골 인종은 투쟁·기능 스포츠의 메달 획득율이 상대적으로 높다. 혼혈 인종은 기능 극복 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 낮으며, 투쟁 스포츠의 메달 획득율은 상대적으로 높다.

Classifying the 97 countries that had ever won a medal in the Olympic games that is held in summer since the first Olympic games in 1896 by language, religion, race which are primary factors of the cultural geography, comparing and analyzing the medal which belong to whether skill sport, conquest sport or combat sport, I came to the following conclusion. I) Culture Realm and Spots Athletes who are from West Europe Culture Realm show high rates of medal acquisition in conquest sport. Athletes who are from East Europe Culture Realm show high rates of medal acquisition in combat sport. Athletes who are from Anglo America Culture Realm show high rates of medal acquisition in skill sport. Athletes who are from Latin America Culture Realm and Arab Moslem Dry Culture Realm represent high rates of medal acquisition in combat sport rather than skill sport and conquest sport Athletes who are from China Culture Realm show high rates of medal acquisition in skill sport and combat sport Athletes who are from Australia Culture Realm represent high potentials of medal acquisition in conquest sport and skill sport. 2) Religion and Sports Athletes who are from Christian region show high rates of medal acquisition in conquest sport. Athletes who are from Buddhistic region relatively show high rates of medal acquisition in combat sport and skill sport. Athletes who are from Islamic region represent high rates of medal acquisition in combat sport rather than skill sport and conquest sport. 3) Language and Sports Indo-European language family show high rates of medal acquisition in conquest sport. Ural-Altaic language family show high rates of medal acquisition in skill sport. China-Tibete language family represent high rates of medal acquisition in skill sport rather than conquest sport and combat sport. 4) Race and Sports The Caucasian race show high rates of medal acquisition in conquest sport rather than the other sports. The Mongolian race show high rates of medal acquisition in combat sport and skill sport. The Mixed blood race represent high potentials of medal acquision in combat sport rather than skill sport and conquest sport.
