“유성 김준곤 목사의 진정한 영적 힘은 바로 그의 설교에 있다”는 평은 결코 허언(虛言)이 아니다. 특히 『예수 칼럼』을 통한 그의 메시지는 많은 사람의 심금을 울리고 변화의 기폭제가 되었다. 그의 제자의 한 사람으로서, 또한 신학교 교수이며 목사로서 필자는 고(故) 김준곤 목사의 제10주기를 맞이하여 다시 한 번 유성의 남긴 삶을 반추하며 그의 영성과 설교세계를 살펴보고자 한다. 무엇보다도 유성의 설교세계는 그의 삶의 역사와 결을 같이 하 고, 그 삶의 역사는 ‘말씀과 기도’(기도와 말씀)를 통하여 영성과 신학으로 내면화되고, 그것은 또한 설교세계로 표출된다. 먼저 3.1 운동과 임시정부수립 100년을 기념하는 올해에 유성의 10주기를 맞이하여 필자는 1) 그의 영성과 설교세계를 역사와 민족과 결을 같이 한 암울했던 우리 시대의 예언자며 선구자로서의 유성의 모습을 살펴보고, 2) 그러한 역사와 삶의 궤적에서 유성의 설교가 어떻게 형성되고 어떤 모습을 띄게 되었는지 유성의 신앙세계 (영성)를 살펴보고, 3) 마지막으로 그의 설교의 핵심은 무엇인지를 살펴봄으로써 다음 세대의 교훈으로 삼고자 한다.

The evaluation that “Pastor ‘Yu Seung(流星)’, Joon Gon Kim’s true spiritu-al strength lies in his sermons” is not empty words. Particularly, the writings he left in < Jesus Column > not only struck a chord with many but acted as a catalyst for change. Pastor Kim’s sermons reflect his life. 2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of South Korea’s March 1st Independence Movement Day as well as of the establishment of the provi-sional government. It is also the 10th anniversary of Pastor Kim’s passing. As one of his disciples, a professor and pastor of a theological seminary I want to ruminate on his life by exploring his spirituality and sermons. Yu Seung’s sermons are in tune with the history of his life. His life in-ternalized spirituality and theology through the living Word and Prayer, which is also expressed in his sermons. Through this paper, I will explore further on three points: 1) How Pastor Kim’s spirituality and sermons came to life as a prophet and pioneer during the gloomy era of Korean history; 2) How Pastor Kim’s sermons took shape within that period along with his life and what his sermons were; and 3) What our future generation can learn from his spirituality and sermons.
