본 연구는 한국 도시농촌지역 어르신 연구(The Korean urban rural elderly cohort study;KURE) 자료를 활용하여 국내 노인의 사회연결망 크기, 신체활동량 및 주관적 건강 인식의 연관성을 보고자 하였다. 그 결과 사회연결망 크기는 여성 노인(3.03±1.64)이 남성 노인(2.28±1.72)보다 더 큰 것으로 조사되었다, 반면 신체활동량은 남성 노인(3630.86 ± 3578.39 MET min/week)이 여성 노인(2290.67 ± 2193.48 MET min/week)보다 더 높게 나타났으며, 주관적 건강 인식은 남성 노인(3.23±0.96)이 여성 노인(2.95±0.99)보다 더 긍정적으로 응답하였다. 남성 노인은 사회연결망 크기가 0명인 사람에 비해서 7명인 사람이 주관적 건강 인식을 긍정적으로 응답할 확률이 7.28배 (95% CI:1.35-39.20) 더 높게 나타났다. 반면, 여성 노인은 신체활동량이 높을수록 주관적 건강 인식을 긍정적으로 응답할 확률이 2.57배 (95% CI:1.55-4.26) 높게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해서 노인의 주관적 건강 인식과 연관성이 있는 요인이 남녀에서 다름을 확인하였으며, 이를 활용하여 한국 노인의 정신건강 증진을 위한 성별 특화된 전략의 개발이 필요할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the Social Network Size (SNS) and Physical Activity(PA) level of elderly Koreans and the association it has with Self-rated Health (SRH). A Cohort study was performed using The Korea Urban Rural Elderly cohort study(KURE) (2012 to 2015). The study included 3,515 subjects aged 65 years or older who responded to the social network size, physical activity, and self-rated health questionnaire. The result shows that the SNS was larger for elderly females (3.03±1.64) compared to elderly males (2.28±1.72). On the other hand, elderly males had higher PA levels (3630.86 ± 3578.39 MET min/week) than elderly females (2290.67 ± 2193.48 MET min/week) and were more positive in SRH (3.23±0.96) compared to elderly females (2.95±0.99). For elderly males, the SNS was associated with SRH as elderly males with a SNS of 7 had significantly higher SRH (Adjusted (Odds Ratio(OR)) 7.28, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 1.35-39.20) compared to those with a SNS of 0. For elderly females, PA level was associated with SRH as elderly females with high PA levels had significantly higher SRH (Adjusted OR 2.57, 95% CI:1.55-4.26) compared to those with low PA levels. This study examined that the factors associated with SRH differed according to gender. Thus, further studies will be needed to promote the mental health of elderly Koreans.
