본 연구는 일반교사와 특수교사의 협력교수를 통한 직접교수의 제공이 초등학교 3학년 학생들의 곱셈과 나눗셈 성취도에 미치는 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 실험집단에는 직접교수를 통해 설계된 수업을 일반교사와 특수교사의 협력교수를 통해 제공하였고 비교집단에는 담임교사 단독의 일반교수를 제공하였다. 이후 학생들의 곱셈과 나눗셈 성취도 결과는 다층성장모형을 설정하여 HLM 7.03 프로그램으로 분석하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험집단의 일반학생들, 수학 학습장애 위험군 학생들 그리고 수학 학습장애 학생들 모두 비교집단의 학생들에 비해 협력교수가 진행됨에 따라 곱셈과 나눗셈 성취도에서 더 큰 향상을 보였다.
이상의 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구 중재의 효과와 그 실천방안에 대해 논의하였다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a regular education teacher and a special education teacher's collaborative teaching on Elementary 3rd Grade Students' Mathematics Achievement. The instruction for experiment groups was the co-teaching program, which was that a regular education teacher and a special education teacher cooperatively teach the lessons designed by direct instruction model. And the class for comparison group was that a regular education teacher teach the lessons of the textbook alone.
The HLM 7.03 program was used to analyze the students' the improvement in mathematical achievement. And the results of this study are following. First, there was no significant difference in mathematical achievement in pretest between the normal-achieving students in the experimental group and in the comparison group. However, the normal-achieving students of experimental group showed larger improvements as co-teaching program progressed and it was significant.
Second, although the mathematical achievement of at-risk students in experimental group was significantly lower the comparison group in the pretest, the at-risk students of experimental group showed larger improvements as co-teaching program progressed and it was significant.
Third, in the pretest, although there was no significant difference of mathematical achievement between the students with math disabilities in either the experimental group or the comparison group. But the students with math disabilities of experimental group showed more noteworthy improvements as co-teaching program progressed and it was significant.
This paper has discussed the effects of co-teaching and the practical ways to implement it in the classroom.
