본 연구는 NIV 영어성경 4복음서에 사용된 make의 빈도수, 의미, 연어들을 조사한다. 이 연구를 위해 WordsSmith Tools로 분석하였다. 연구문제는 첫째, NIV 4복음서에서 make는 얼마나 자주 사용되는가? 둘째, NIV 4복음서에 사용된 make는 주로 어떤 의미로 사용되었는가? 셋째, NIV 4복음서에 사용된 make의 연어들의 특징은 무엇인가? 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, make 동사 사용은 성경 전체 약 18.5% 이었고, 마태, 요한, 누가, 마가복음 순이었다. 둘째, make의 의미는 ‘Causative(69)’, ‘Productive(25)’, ‘Delexical(18)’ 순으로 사용되었다. 셋째, make 좌측에는 등위 접속사(19), 대명사(14), be, have 등의 기능어 순이었다. 우측에는 make의 의미를 결정짓는 문법적 문장구조 순이었는데, ‘목적어+목적격 보어’ 형태가 가장 많이 나타났다. 본 연구가 시사하는 바는, 영어성경이 의사소통을 위한 글로벌 영어교육에 중대한 교과서가 될 수 있고, 기본 어휘 및 구문 학습에 효과적일 수 있다.

This study aims to investigate the frequency, meaning, and collocation of make used in 4 Gospels in NIV English Bible. This is analyzed by WordSmith Tools. The research questions are firstly, how frequently the verb make is used in NIV English Bible, secondly, in which meanings make is used in it, and thirdly, by what make is collocated in it? The results are as follows. Firstly, make is frequently used by 18.5% only in 4 Gospels, compared with the whole, and in Matthew, John, Luke, and Mark in order. Secondly, make is frequently used in the meaning of causative, productive, and delexical in order. Thirdly, it is frequently collocated by coordinative conjunction, pronoun, be, and have in order on the left, while most frequently collocated on the right by the grammatical structure, Object+ Complement. As a result, it is suggested that the English Bible can be one of the most effective textbooks for global English education for the communication in the world.
