Design and Synthesis of Novel Pull-type Phenazine Units for OPVs

The novel pull-type phenazine unit were designed and synthesized by using organic photovoltaic device. Phenazine unit structure is composed of three benzenes arranged in a plane and contains a nitrogen unit, which can improve the charge mobility since it has a plannar structure. The new material were synthesized 1,4-bis(dodecyloxy)- 7,8-difluoro-2,3-dimethylphenazine and 1,4-bis(dodecyloxy)- 7,8-difluorophenazine-2,3-dicarbonitrile. This materials were synthesized using a coupling reaction of bromine and an amine using Ruphos Pd G2 catalyst. In the next step, however, the steric hindrance did not cause a bromination reaction. For this reason, synthesis scheme and molecular arrangement were changed. New method of reacted phenazine used coupling reaction of 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone with 3,6-dibromo-4,5-difluorobenzene-1,2-diamine and progress of via alkylation and stille coupling reaction. As a result, the new phenazine (DBDFPz) was synthesized for polymer solar cells.
