한국사회에서의 실내디자인분야는 지금까지 급속한 성장과 영역의 확장을 이루어왔으나 앞으로의 지속적인 발전을 위해서 전문 분야로서의 학문적, 실무적 정체성을 더욱 공고히 할 시기에 왔다고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 특히 실무에 적합한 전문가의 양성을 위하여 실내디자인 전공 관련 대학에서의 교육프로그램 체계를 제고할 필요가 있다고 보아, 그 선진 사례로서 FIDER의 교육인증제도와 NCIDQ 자격증 제도를 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 미국대학의 인증된 학사학위 프로그램들을 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 FIDERSTANDARDS 항목을 기준으로 계열 및 학위별 교과과정 내용의 관계성을 분석하여 계열에 따른 특성과 실내디자인 전공의 본질을 규명하고자 하였다.

Interior Design in Korea has dramatically grown to expand its territories. However, its academic and practical definition as the professional field should be enhanced in order to achieve more sustainable development of Interior Design. I believe that the educational system of Interior Design in Korean universities has a room for improvement to nurture experienced professionals with practical business skills. For this reason, I looked through best practices of accredited bachelor course in the US universities, where FIDER education certification system and NCIDQ certificates make up main parts, in this study. I analyzed relations among curriculums of each discipline and degree based on FIDER STANDARD, to define their own characteristics and intrinsic attributes of Interior Design.
