This study investigated the effects of emotional labor they experienced on occupational stress, which used self- esteem as a mediated effect. The data of this study consisted of the reponses of 500 female beauty service workers in Seoul through the face-toface survey. Factor analysis and hierarchical analysis were used to analyze the collected data. According to the results, when the externalizing behaviors of emotional labor are shown more frequently, systematic and job demand stress would increase and when the internalizing behaviors of emotional labor are shown more frequently, job demand stress would increase. In addition, when positive ego strengthens, although systematic stress would increase, job demand stress would decrease. This study revealed that beauty industry workers are in inadequate working conditions and that consistent concerns and urge for changes are needed. Thus, further studies for beauty industry workers’ emotional labor should be done, and systematic measures to protect emotional labors should be taken.
