이 연구는 우리나라의 다문화교육 정책이 공식적으로 전개된 지 10년이 지난 시점에서, 그간의 성과에 대해 고찰하고, 2017년도 다문화교육 지원 계획에 담긴 내용을 통해 현재 다문화교육 정책의 지향이나 내용에서의 변화의 특징을 살펴본 것이다. 아울러 이를 토대로 다문화교육 정책의 개선점과 과제를 논의하였다. 그 요약은 다음과 같다. 최근 다문화교육 지원 계획에 드러난 우리나라 다문화교육 정책의 성과 및 특징은 첫째, 다문화교육에 대한 관점의 변화로서 정책목표 및 내용에서의 변화를 찾아볼 수 있다는 것이고, 둘째, 다문화학생 대상 정책에 대한 인식의 변화가 있으며, 셋째, 다문화교육 대상이 유치원 단계로 저연령화되고 있고, 넷째, 교사 역량을 강화하고자 하는 사업이 강조되고 있으며, 다섯째, 정책을 수행하는 시스템이 마련되어 정착되어가고 있다는 것이다. 아울러 개선점 및 과제로는 첫째, 다문화 및 다문화교육의 개념 및 용어의 문제가 정리되어야 한다는 점, 둘째, 다문화교육과 다문화이해교육의 논리적 관련성을 정립시켜야 하며, 셋째, 정책 사업 전달 체계에서의 효율성 검증이 필요하고, 넷째, 교육담당 인적 자원의 전문성 개발 및 역할을 정립해야 할 것이며, 다섯째, 제도 및 시스템을 지속적으로 점검하고, 여섯째, 운영 사업 및 교육 프로그램의 검토가 필요하다는 것을 제시하였다.

This study examines the evaluation of Korea 's multicultural education policy 10 years after its official development and discusses the changes in the direction and content of multicultural education policy through the contents of the 2017 Multicultural Education Support Plan .
