「고금대전진용정」(이하 「진용」으로 약칭)은 홍콩의 인기 작가 이벽화의 소설 「진용」을 원작으로 한 영화로, 그 속에는 중국인들 특유의 정서라고 할 수 있는 치정과 회고, 그리고 무상의 세계를 매우 애잔하고 비장하게 잘 그려내고 있다. 따라서 이 영화의 극본인 이벽화의 소설 「진용」과 중국문화에 대한 이런 이해 없이 영화를 감상하다보면 이 영화에 대한 오해를 갖기 십상이다. 본고는 이런 생각에서 원작 소설 이벽화의 「진용」을 기반으로 한 영화 「진용」에 나타난 중국인들의 문화적 정서라고 할 수 있는 치정과 회고, 그리고 무상의 정한에 대해 논의하고 있다. 현대 중국어에서의 치정의 함의는 한국어에서처럼 부정적인 함의가 아니라 지고지순하고 순수한 남녀 간의 깊은 정과 사랑을 의미한다. 그리고 회고란 옛것을 그리워하는 정서로 조상과 성현을 중시하는 유교문화에서 비롯된 중국문화의 특징 가운데 하나이다. 또 무상이란 인생과 세사의 덧없음에 대해 느끼는 감회를 말하는데, 이 역시 중국문학 속에 보편적으로 내재된 기본 정신이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 영화 「진용」은 이벽화의 소설을 극본으로 이 소설의 주제를 잘 반영하여 제작된, 중국 옛사람들의 순수한 치정의 세계를 회고와 무상의 비통한 심정으로 그려낸 영화라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

The film < A Terracotta Warrior, 秦俑 > is based on Lilian Lee(李碧華)’s novel named <秦俑>. Lilian Lee is one of the most famous scenario writers and novelists in Hong Kong. The film and the novel <秦俑> seriously described the typical chinese culture and sentiment such as infatuation (癡情), meditation on the past(懷古) and transience of life(無常). So if we do not understand these chinese cultural background, we will be prone to make mistakes in appreciating and criticizing the film. Basing on this idea, this paper researches very common chinese cultural psychology - infatuation(癡情), meditation on the past(懷古) and transience of life(無常). The meaning of Chi-Qing(癡情, infatuation) in modern chinese language is not like its korean and japanese meanings - ‘pervert or weird’. Chi-Qing(癡情) in chinese language means the deep and pure love between man and woman. ‘Meditation on the past(懷古)’ means the feeling of missing past and old people and generation. And ‘transience of life(無常)’ is the sad feeling of briefness and impermanence on the life and world. The novel < A Terracotta Warrior, 秦俑 > and its film both described the infatuation of love of the ancient chinse people with the attitude of meditation on the past and transience of life.
