본 연구의 목적은 예비음악교사의 숙달목표지향성이 다문화교육태도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 자아존중감이 숙달목표지향성과 다문화교육태도의 관계에 있어서 가지는 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. D 사범대학에 재학 중인 중등 예비음악교사 151명을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비음악교사들의 숙달목표지향성, 자아존중감, 다문화교육태도 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자아존중감은 숙달목표지향성과 다문화교육태도와의 관계에서 조절효과가 있음을 보여주어, 자아존중감이 높은 예비교사일수록 숙달목표지향성이 다문화교육태도에 끼치는 영향이 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 학년별 변인 분석 결과 4학년에서만 자아존중감이 숙달목표지향성과 다문화교육태도와의 관계에서 조절효과가 통계적으로 유의하게 나타나, 4학년 예비교사의 경우 자아존중감이 높은 집단일 경우 숙달목표지향이 높을수록 다문화교육태도가 높다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 본 결과에 근거하여 예비음악교사의 다문화교육태도를 높이기 위한 숙달목표지향성과 자아존중감 제고를 위한 예비음악교사교육에 대한 시사점을 제언하였다.

This study examined the relationship between pre-service music teachers' mastery goals and their teacher multi-cultural attitudes. Further, this study investigated the moderating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between their mastery goals and teacher multi-cultural attitudes. We administered a survey to and collected data from 151 pre-service music teachers attending D teachers' college. The results of the study indicated that college students' mastery goals, teacher multi-cultural attitudes, and self-esteem were statistically significantly associated to one another. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that the pre-service music teachers' self-esteem moderated the relationship between their mastery goals and teacher multi-cultural attitudes. For the group with higher self-esteem, those whose mastery goals are higher are more likely to show higher teacher multi-cultural attitudes. While that is true for senior students, it is not true for first year through third year students. The current study revealed that individual dispositions such as mastery goals and self-esteem of pre-service music teachers influence teacher multi-cultural attitudes, which contributes to the research and practice of the multi-cultural education and sheds lights on educational implications for pre-service music teachers. Based on the findings of the curent study, we recommend that university administration develop teaching strategies and educational programs to enhance college students' mastery and goals and their self-esteem.
