이 논문은 순천시립 뿌리깊은나무박물관에 소장된 필사본 <양산백전>을 고찰했다. 지금까지 <양산백전>의 이본은 경판본과 구활자본이 알려져 있었다. 몇몇 도서목록에서 필사본 <양산백전>의 이름이 있었지만, 실물이 확인된 바는 없었다. 경판본과 구활자본은 분량의 차이가 있을 뿐 그 내용에 있어서는 거의 동일하다. 반면에 뿌리깊은 나무박물관에 소장하고 있는 필사본 <양산백전>은 기존의 이본과 구별되는, 새로운 계열의 이본이다. 필사본 <양산백전>의 특징은 크게 세 가지이다. 첫째, 경판본과 구활자본의 후반부에 상당한 분량을 차지하는 군담이 없다. 양산백과 추영대가 혼인한 후, 황제로부터 벼슬과 상을 받고 잔치를 여는 장면으로 끝난다. 둘째, 주인공이 비밀리에 재회하여 밤새 정담을 나누는 대목, 추영대가 자결을 시도하는 대목이 추가되어 있는 등 둘 사이의 애정이 보다 애절하게 묘사되어 있다. 셋째, 양산백과 추영대의 출생과 환생 두 사건에 모두 부모의 발원이 결정적인 요소로 등장한다. 이러한 필사본의 특징들은 전반적으로 작품에서 인물의 애정과 관련된 측면을 보다 부각시키는 방향이라고 평가할 수 있을 것이다. 지금으로서는 필사본과 경판본·구활자본사이의 선후관계를 단정하기 어렵지만, 필사본이 현존하는 경판본·구활자본과 구별되는 새로운 이본 계열에 속하며, 중국에서 유래된 양축고사의 장르적인 속성을 더 많이 지니고 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 뿌리깊은나무박물관에 소장된 필사본 <양산백전>은 앞으로의 <양산백전>의 연구에 매우 중요한 가치를 지닌다고 평가할 수 있다.
The paper looked at the manuscript of Yangsanbaekjeon, which is housed in the Suncheon Purigibeunnamu Municipal Museum. Until now, Yangsanbaekjeon was known for its Kyungpan(Seoul edition) version and old printed version. There were the names of the manuscript Yangsanbaekjeon on some of the lists, but there was no actual confirmation. Kyungpan and old printed version are almost identical in its content. On the other hand, the manuscript version Yangsanbaekjeon, which is housed by Suncheon Purigibeunnamu Municipal Museum distinguishes from the other copies. The manuscript Yangsanbaekjeon has three main characteristics. First, there is no battle episode that takes up a considerable amount in the second half of the book in the others. After Yangsanbaek and Chuyeongdae got married, they ended up holding a feast after receiving an award from the emperor. Second, the love between the two is more pitiful, with the main character secretly reunited and the addition of the part in which Choo Young-dae tries to kill herself. Third, in both the birth and reincarnation of Yangsanbaek and Chuyeongdae, the appeal of parents appears to be crucial. The characteristics of these may be assessed as being generally the direction in which they accentuate the love-related aspects of the person. For now, it is difficult to determine the relationship between these copies, but it is able to confirm that the manuscript has more genre properties of the Chinese-derived folklore. The manuscript of Yangsanbaekjeon, which is housed in the Suncheon Purigibeunnamu Municipal Museum, is very valuable in the study of Yangsanbaekjeon.
