본 연구에서는 미래창조과학부와 한국과학창의재단에서 매년 선정하는 우수과학도서 중 유아대상 우수과학도서의 생활주제별, 과학교육 내용별, 과학적 탐구과정별, 과학적 탐구하기의 하위내용별 분포를 통해 우수과학도서의 과학교육 내용과 특성에 대해 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생활주제별 우수과학도서의 내용을 분석한 결과 ‘동식물과 자연’이 가장 높은 비율을 나타냈다. 둘째, 과학교육 내용별 우수과학도서의 내용을 분석한 결과 ‘생명과학’ 영역이 가장 높은 비율을 나타냈다. 셋째, 과학적 탐구과정별 우수과학도서의 내용을 분석한 결과 ‘관찰하기’가 가장 높은 비율을 차지했다. 넷째, 과학적 탐구하기의 하위내용별 우수과학도서의 내용을 분석한 결과 ‘생명체와 자연환경 알아보기’가 가장 높은 비율을 차지했다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해, 유아과학교육에 대한 교육적 시사점과 우수과학도서의 활용성에 대한 기초자료를 제공해 줄 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the early childhood science education contents found in ‘excellent science book’ selected by the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning and Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. The results of the analysis were as follows. First, ‘excellent science book’ by life theme showed the highest rate of ‘animals, plants and nature.’ Second, ‘excellent science book’ by contents of science education demonstrated the highest rate of ‘life science.’ Third, ‘excellent science book’ by scientific inquiry process displayed the highest rate of ‘observation.’ Fourth, ‘excellent science book’ by sub-content of scientific inquiry showed the highest rate of ‘living things and learning about the natural environment.’ Through these results, this research purports to provide basic data on the educational implications of early childhood science education and the availability of 'excellent science books' for children.
