본 연구에서는 교육과정 변천에 따라 초등 과학 교과서에 제시된 전기 관련 내용 구성의 변화를 분석하고, 초등 교사들의 전기안전교육에 관한 인식을 조사하였다. 초등 교사들은 역대 교과서에 도입된 전기안전 내용이 학습에 효과적이지 않으며, 실험활동이나 멀티미디어 자료의 활용이 더 효과적이라고 응답하였다. 이 조사 결과를 토대로 전기안전교육 탐구프로그램을 준비하였다. 전기회로에서 전선을 알루미늄 테이프로 대체하고 이 알루미늄 테이프의 표면에 열변색 스티커를 부착하였다. 이 회로를 단락시키면 과전류가 흐르게 되어 알루미늄 테이프의 온도가 상승하고 열변색 스티커의 색이 바뀌게 된다. 이 현상을 이용하여 전선에 과전류가 흐르면 전선의 온도가 급상승하여 화재의 원인이 되는 현상을 체험할 수 있는 탐구 프로그램으로 준비하였다. 이 프로그램을 초등 6학년 학생에게 적용하고 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 학생들은 열변색 스티커를 활용한 전기안전교육 탐구프로그램이 교과서에 제시된 전기안전교육 내용보다 더 쉽고 재미있게 단락 현상을 이해할 수 있었다고 응답하였다.

In this study, we investigated the change in the composition of electricity in relation to the changes in the curriculum made to the elementary science textbook. As a result of investigating how elementary school teachers perceive electrical safety education, we found that electrical safety contents introduced in previous textbooks were not effective for learning, and it was more effective to use experimental activities or multimedia data. To expand on this, we replaced wire with aluminum tapes and then attached thermochromic stickers to the surface of the tapes. If this line is short-circuited, then overcurrent flows; the temperature of the electric wire rises and the colors of the thermochromic stickers change, which means that the temperature to be observed rising so rapidly can cause a fire. As a result of applying this program to elementary sixth graders, as well as conducting a questionnaire survey, the students responded that the electrical safety education inquiry program using thermochromic stickers was more interesting and easier to understand short circuit than the electrical safety education contents presented in the textbooks.
