Korea has been the second country in the world that sends missionaries. Since Korean church started to send a missionary to Je-ju Island in 1907, Korean world mission history has passed more than 100 years. But the Korean world mission has been criticized as a competitive church individualist mission, exclusive conversional mission and aggressive imperialistic mission. Actually Korean world mission caused social issues such as ‘Kim Sun-il case in iraq and various problems including tacit issues.
To discuss recent Korean world mission, this paper focuses on the structure of world mission. Normally there are 3 bodies to do world mission, which are church(or mission agency) as a sending body, mission field as a receiving body and missionary as a going body. To operate freely and powerfully this missionary structure, it is obvious to have equal right to decide, participate or evaluate world mission as a individual body. Nevertheless it seems that only the church(or mission agency) as a sending body has too much power or weight comparing to mission field as a receiving body and missionary as a going body.
The position of these 3 individual bodies is so different from each other because of a physical distances, cultural differences, different perspectives, different vision, ect. If this triangle structure could function with open-minded conversation, equal right to decide and balance, world mission could operate more fairly and richly.
This paper raises a question of this unfair or unequal reality of Korean world mission even though churches(or mission agencies) have the theory of this triangle structure for world mission. And also it suggests to have conversation openly as an individual body with equally balanced right to speak and decide. This is not only to do better world mission but also to learn of the way of the Creator for world mission and to participate on it.
