본 논문은 한국기업들이 몽골 아이막(道)들의 외국인투자 분야에 직접투자를 할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구 목적에 따라 본 논문은 기업이 외국에 직접투자를 할 수 있는 가능성을 정의하는 독점적 우위이론 혹은 기업특유 독점우위(특허, 실용신안, 산업디자인, 상표, 연구개발 직원)을 활용하였다. 연구결과 한국기업들은 특허, 실용신안, 산업디자인, 상표와 연구개발 직원 등 기업특유 독점우위에 기초하여 몽골 아이막들의 외국인투자 분야인 농축산업, 광업, 제조업, 에너지업, 운송업, 건설업, 도소매업, 숙박 및 요식업과 관광분야에 직접투자를 할 수 있는 가능성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 논문은 한국기업들이 몽골 아이막들의 외국인투자 분야들에 직접투자를 할 수 있는 가능성을 가진다는 연구결론에 도달했으며 몽골의 법적 환경, 몽골 정부 정책과 조치들, 몽골 산업분야들에서의 기술·기계장비의 필요성, 한국기업들과 기술 측면에서 협력하고자 하는 몽골측 입장과 관련하여 한국기업들은 이 같은 가능성을 활용하여 몽골 아이막들의 외국인투자 분야에 직접 투자하는 것이 가능하다는 의견을 제시하였다.

This study examines the potential of Korean firms to make direct investments in FDI sectors of Mongolian provinces. To this end, the study applies the monopolistic advantage theory, in particular, firm-specific monopolistic advantages that identify a firm’s potential to make direct investments overseas. The study results show that Korean firms have the potential to make direct investments in sectors such as agriculture and livestock, mining, manufacturing, energy, transportation, construction, wholesale and retail, hotel and restaurant, and tourism sectors―FDI sectors of Mongolian provinces―based on their firm-specific monopolistic advantages such as patent, utility model, industrial design, trademark and R&D workers. The study concludes that Korean firms have the potential to make direct investments in FDI sectors of Mongolian provinces and presents an opinion that the legal environment in Mongolia, government policy and measures, need for technology and machinery in Mongolian industrial sectors, and Mongolia’s interest in collaborating with Korean firms in terms of technology raise the possibility for Korean firms to make direct investments in FDI sectors of Mongolian provinces by using the potential.
