This study has performed to identify the effect which would be appeared when middle aged women participated in the dance sport for a long period of time by doing a comparative analysis of functional fitness (up and go test, 25 step walk, 6 spot step test, 6min walk) and postural stability (one leg standing) with total of 36 women, 19 middle aged women who participated and 16 who did not participated in it for a long period of time. The result shows that there was no statistically significant difference between the dance sport group and non-dance sport group in the functional strength. However, in up and go and 6 spot step tests which measure quickness and balance, the dance sport group developed fast compared to the non-dance group in overall and there was a statistically significant difference in COP front/back and left/right ranges at the right leg standing for one leg standing and COP left/right speed and COP total area at left leg standing (p<.05). It means that there was a positive effect in the balance ability of the posture when middle aged women participated in the dance sport for a long period of time. Therefore, it is judged that the dance sport could be suggested to middle aged women as a good exercise for a long period of time as a part of sports for all.
