본 연구는 한국무용을 전공하는 여고생들이 인식하고 추구하는 이상적 신체 이미지의 내적 의미에 대해 알아보고, 나아가 그들이 행하고 있는 몸 만들기 및 관리 행동을 탐색하고자 하였다. 또한, 질적 연구방법을 적용하였다. 이를 위해 눈덩이 표집방법을 이용하여 최초 연구참여자를 선정하였으며, 눈덩이 표집방법을 적용하여 총 8명의 연구참여자를 채택하였다. 자료수집은 주로 심층면담을 사용하여 진행하였다. 수집된 자료는 텍스트 분석방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이상의 연구방법을 통해 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국무용을 전공하는 여고생의 이상적 신체 이미지는 크게‘관념적, 사회적 몸, 가질 수 없는 몸, 보여주기 위한 몸으로 구체화되었다. 둘째, 연구참여자들이 이상적 신체 이미지를 완성하기 위해 행하는 몸 만들기 및 관리 행동은 혹독한 신체 훈련, 기본적, 극단적 다이어트, 마지막 수단, 기본 체형 관리로 도출되었다. 이상의 연구결과를 통해 여고생들이 인식하는 이상적 신체이미지는 현실적인 면과 비현실적 면이 동시에 나타났다. 또한, 완성을 위한 최선의 노력을 다하고 있었지만, 그 형태 역시 적절한 관리 행동과 부적절한 관리 행동이 있음을 알 수 있다.

This study aims to understand the inner meaning of the ideal physical image recognized and pursued by female high-school students majoring in Korean dance and sought to explore the body making and managing behaviors they are performing. Qualitative research method was applied. For this purpose, the first study participants were selected using the purposeful sampling method and a total of eight study participants were adopted by applying the snowball sampling method. The collection of data was carried out primarily using in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using a textual analysis method. The results was next First, the ideal physical image of high school girls majoring in Korean dance is largely defined as an ideological and social body, a body one could not have, and a body to show. Second, the body making and managing behaviors that research participants perform to complete the ideal body image were derived from rigorous physical training, basic and extreme dieting, plastic surgery, medical procedures and medication as the last resorts, and basic body shape management such as acupunctural massage and physical therapy. The ideal body image recognized by high school girls was both realistic and unrealistic. In addition, although the best effort was made to complete, the form also shows that there are appropriate and inappropriate management measures.
