Individual attitudes and behaviors are related to their personal history. But, previous studies on children care of grandparents did not pay much attention to this point. In this study, I explored the relation between grandparent’s personal history and her providing child care. I focused on a grandmother who had received higher education and had a professional career. The analysing were based on interviews, observations, and field materials for a period of three-month. The results show that the child caring attitude and behavior of grandmother are consistent with her historical experiences. 1) The grandmother had an excellent career, but at the same time pursued family-oriented life from her childhood. 2) Her family-oriented value is evident in the motivation of child care, and experience as a teacher has been reflected in child caring behavior.
