The purpose of this study is to find the direction and the social support system that should be improved in the future by looking at the perceptions and needs of the mothers, who experienced linkage education between early childhood educational institution and elementary school, of the first-grade students in elementary school. In this study, the free response questionnaire survey and the in-depth interview were conducted in parallel to examine the necessity, difficulties, and support measures of the linkage education that the mother of the first-grade student of elementary school recognizes. Participants in the survey were 32 mothers of the first-grade elementary school students and in-depth interview subjects were five mothers. The collected data were analyzed with a constant comparative method. As the result of the study, the perception and demand of mothers of the first-grade elementary school students about the linkage education are water flowing naturally like a child’s growth, appropriate to the individuality of the child and practically helpful to the child’s life. Based on these results, the necessity of education for early childhood teachers and elementary school teachers’ re-understanding on the linkage education and the linkage education considering the children’s identity were discussed.
