The recovery of useful resources dissolved in seawater is becoming increasingly important due to the concerns over resources depletion. Among them, lithium recovery from seawater is attracting attention as an increasing requirement of lithium in the battery industry. In recent years, much research has been devoted to the development of efficient and economical lithium recovery systems. In this study, we propose a new approach to apply lithium manganese oxide adsorbents to seawater. The adsorbent and binder, which has enough mechanical strength and chemical resistance was prepared by a modified sol-gel process, mixture was coated on PVC plate and investigated its lithium adsorption/desorption performance in seawater. A systematic study of the effect of binder content on lithium recovery efficiency will be discussed.
