Kaleidolizine, which contained the well-known fluorophore indolizine as a core skeleton, is constructed with 10 pi electron system that satisfies the huckel’s rule. Most of Kaleidolizine fluorescent compounds represent fluorescence emission both in diverse organic solvent and solid state due to its unique chemical structure. However, some of its derivatives have low fluorescent intensity in solution state, but have high fluorescent intensity in solid state. The conventional fluorophores, which suffer from the aggregation caused quenching effect at high concentration, were resulted in compromised sensitivity. Only a limited number of organic fluorescent dyes have been reported as representing aggregation induced emission characteristics. Here in, we invenstigated Kaleidolizine, which can overcome the limitation of aggregation caused quenching effect as the new AIE dye, can be applied on solution polarity and chemical sensor, OLED, and biological probes.
