A material degradable in physiological environment is highly desirable in tissue engineering. Ideally, when the biodegradable material is implanted in human body to restore the damaged space in tissue, it can be dissolved away while the remaining space will be filled with regenerated tissue. CHN is a well-known biodegradable polysaccharide possessing characteristic nature beneficial to human body. In this study, we prepared porous CHN/PLLA using EDC and NHS and examined the hybridizing effects on the biodegradability and bioactivity of CHN scaffolds. The effects of PLLA hybridization on degradation behavior of the scaffolds were evaluated. In order to buster the degradation rate, we utilized an enzyme-assisted system. Additional physical and chemical properties of the hybrid scaffold were analyzed using various analytical methods including SEM, FTIR, and others.
