본 연구는 유아의 성별에 따른 부모의 스트로크 유형, 유아의 자기표현력, 또래유능성의 차이를 살펴보고, 부모의 스트로크유형과 유아의 자기표현력이 유아의 또래유능성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 수도권에 위치한 7개의 유아교육기관에 재원하고 있는 만 5세 유아 228명을 대상으로 자녀가 지각한 부모의 스트로크 유형 검사와 담임교사 평정의 자기표현력 검사 및 또래유능성 검사를 하였다. 수집된 자료는 독립표본 t 검증, Pearson 상관관계 분석, 단계적 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 자료분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자녀의 성별에 따라 부모의 스트로크유형, 자기표현력, 또래유능성에 차이가 나타났다. 남아가 여아보다 부모의 부정적 스트로크를 더 높게 지각하고, 여아가 남아보다 자기표현력과 또래유능성에서 높은 경향성을 보였다. 둘째, 유아의 또래유능성은 부모의 부정적 스트로크와 부적상관을 유아의 자기표현력과는 정적상관을 나타냈다. 부모의 부정적 스트로크는 유아의 또래유능성에 4% 설명력으로 영향을 주었으며, 자기표현력은 43.8%의 영향력을 증가시켜 부모의 부정적 스트로크와 자기표현력은 유아의 또래유능성에 전체 44.3%의 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

The purposes of this study were to investigate the difference of parent’s stroking pattern, self expression and peer competence according to gender of young children, and to investigate the effect of parent’s stroking pattern and self expression on young children’s peer competence. For this purpose, 228 children 5 years old who were enrolled in 7 kindergartens and daycare centers located in the Seoul metropolitan area were examined by their parent’s stroking pattern test, self expression test and peer competence test. The collected data were analyzed by t - test, Pearson correlation analysis, and stepwise regression analysis. The results of the data analysis were as follows. First, there were differences in parent’s stroking pattern, self expression, and peer competence according to children’s gender. Boys perceived more negative strokes of parents than girls, and girls showed higher tendency in self expression and peer competence than boys. Second, the peer competence of the young children showed a negative correlation with their parent’s negative stroke and positive correlation with their self expression. Negative strokes of parents affected 4% of children’s peer competence, and self expression increased 43.8%. Parent’s negative strokes and young children’s self expression had a total influence of 44.3% on young children’s peer competence.
