본 연구의 목적은 누리과정에 근거한 그림책 활용 인성교육 활동이 유아의 자기조절능력과 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구대상은 S시에 위치한 국립단설 M유치원 2개 학급의 만3세 유아 30명(실험집단 15명, 비교집단 15명)이며, 실험집단의 유아들에게 16회의 그림책 활용 인성교육 활동을 실시하였고 비교집단은 누리과정계획에 따른 교육 활동을 실시하였다. 연구도구는 유아용 자기조절능력(SCRS: Self- Control Rating Scale)검사와 친사회적 행동 평가 검사(PBSYC: Prosocial Behavior Scale for Young Children)를 사용하였으며, 자료 분석을 위해 t검증과 상관분석, 공변량분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 누리과정에 근거한 그림책을 활용한 인성교육 활동이 유아의 자기조절능력과 친사회적행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과는 인성의 기초가 형성되는 시기의 유아교육에서 누리과정 생활주제에 따른 그림책을 활용하는 것이 인성 교육의 측면에서 효과가 있으며, 구체적으로는 그림책을 활용한 인성교육활동은 유아의 자기조절능력과 친사회적 행동의 증진에 기여하는 교수-학습 방법으로서 교육적 가치가 있음을 시사하였다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of a Nuri-curriculum based character education program using picture books on three-year-old children's self-regulation ability and pro-social behavior. The subjects were 30 three-year-old children (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the comparative group) from two classes in M public kindergarten located in S city. Children in the experimental group received a Nuri-curriculum based character education using picture books for 16 sessions, while children in the comparative group received regular instruction based on the Nuri-curriculum. The research instruments of this study included the Self-Control Rating Scale (SCRS) and the Prosocial Behavior Scale for Young Children (PBSYC). Data from the survery were analyzed using t-test, correlation analysis, and ANCOVA. Results of this study confirmed the positive effects of the Nuri-curriculum based character education using picture books on three-year-old children’s self-regulation ability and the pro-social behavior. In conclusion, this study suggested that the use of picture books according to the life themes of the Nuri-curriculum for character education in early childhood education would be effective and valuable as an instructional method for the enhancement of self-regulation ability and pro-social behavior.
