Permeability of soils is very important in relation to some geotechnical problems, including the determination of seepage losses, settlement computations, and stability analyses. The controlling factors of permeability are grain size, particle shape and void ratio of soils. Estimation formula of k have been developed using the above mentioned factors. Particle size distribution curves are mostly used to estimate permeability. Previous works of analysis for particle size distribution curves have used C c1, C u and D n. However, those method use only some points on the curve. This paper presents fractal dimension analysis for particle size distribution curves and compares permeability to fractal dimension.
