Recently, the phenomenon of ground subsidence and sinkhole openings in urban area has caused social problems such as damage to roads and structures, fear to public, and property loss. A survey released by the City of Seoul has showed that more than 80% of the phenomenon of ground subsidence occurred mainly around water and sewer pipe.
Researches have proven that the ground subsidence and sinkhole opening are much affected with damaged water and sewer pipe. But it is difficult to know the correlation between ground subsidence and water and sewer pipe. Therefore, in the study we try to estimate the risk of subsidence through indirect and direct methods.
First, to evaluate in an indirect way n this study, to evaluate the risk of ground subsidence risk around the sewer, the items related to the ground subsidence risk were extracted.
Second, as a direct evaluation method in case of water pipe, the risk of ground subsidence is analyzed by detecting water leakage and location change using a water pipe sensor. In the case of sewage pipes, the risk of ground subsidence around the sewer was assessed through CCTV exploration and GPR(Ground Penetrating Radar) exploration.
Finally, In this study evaluation the risk of ground subsidence by calculating the weight of direct and indirect methods.
