최근 유럽을 중심으로 사회적 위기의 대응책으로 사회적경제의 중요성이 높아지고 있으며, 특히 협동조합에 대한 새로운 인식과 중요성이 확대되고 있다. 우리나라의 협동조합은 빈곤, 실업 등 사회적 위기에 대한 대응전략으로써 매년 양적 증대를 이루고 있지만, 사업운영자금 부족, 수익모델 구축 미비 등의 이유로 조직운영의 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 이에 따라 협동조합 7대 원칙을 활용한 협동조합의 지속가능성에 관한 연구가 진행되고 있는데 본 연구에서는 협력적 맥락에서 협동조합의 네트워크를 분석할 수 있는 6대 원칙 ‘협동조합 간의 협동’에 강조점을 두고 협동조합의 네트워크 다양성이 협동조합의 경제적 성과에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 네트워크의 다양성, 조직의 민주성과 경제적 참여성이 높을수록 협동조합의 자금조달 성과도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 네트워크 다양성과 조직의 민주성이 높을수록 협동조합의 시장 진입 및 참여성과가 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 정리하자면, 협동조합의 네트워크의 다양성은 협동조합의 경제적 성과에 의미 있는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 정부차원에서 협동조합의 네트워크 관계망 확대를 위한 정책적 지원과 협동조합 자체적으로 내·외부와의 소통 및 네트워크를 확보하는 노력이 필요함을 시사한다. 또한 협동조합 간의 단순한 네트워크뿐만 아니라, 네트워크 사이에서 중심적인 역할을 수행하는 협동조합을 발굴 및 육성하는 것도 매우 중요할 것으로 판단된다.

Social economy has been gaining greater importance recently, centering around Europe, as a solution to social crises. In particular, there are new perceptions and assessments on cooperatives. Number of cooperatives is increasing in Korea as a response to poverty, unemployment and other social problems, but there are also difficulties running these organizations due to shortage of funds and inadequate revenue model. Applying seven cooperative principles, a research on the sustainability of cooperatives is being carried out. In line with these studies, this research aimed to analyze how the performance of cooperatives was affected by the diversity of their networks, focusing on the ‘cooperation among cooperatives’ principle. It was found that first, the more diverse the network, the more democratic the organization, and the higher the economic participation, the performance of cooperatives in raising funds was more likely to be higher. Secondly, the more diverse the network and the more democratic the organization, the more likely that cooperatives will enter into market and enhance their performance. In short, this research revealed that the diversity of networks of cooperatives had a significant impact on their performance. This implies that in order to expand the networks of cooperatives, government should provide policy support while cooperatives continue to make efforts to communicate on a broader scale both with those inside and outside of organizations. In addition, apart from simple networks among cooperatives, it seems important to raise certain cooperatives that could take on a central role as a network hub.
