Foreign body granuloma may arise due to penetration of the skin by foreign material. Various foreign materials such as silk, nylon, wood, paraffin, silicon etc. inserted into the skin can induce foreign body granuloma, which can cause severe disfiguration. Foreign body granuloma have various clinical manifestation such as cystic granuloma, edematous granuloma, and sclerosing granuloma. So dermatologists should be aware of clinical manifestations of foreign body granuloma and biopsy should be done to make an proper diagnosis. We report a case of foreign body granuloma in a 73 year-old-female. She presented with two asymptomatic normal skin colored nodules on the right nasolabial fold for one month. Four months ago, she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma of right nasolabial fold in our hospital. She had treated by surgery in other hospital two months ago. But after one month, new skin lesions occurred on the excision site. Biopsy specimen from new skin lesion showed chronic inflammation with numerous multinucleated giant cells. She was diagnosed with foreign body granuloma and transferred to the hospital where the excision was performed. We herein report a case of foreign body granuloma probably caused by nonabsorbable suture materials after operative treatment of basal cell carcinoma.
