Recently, filler injections are a common skin cosmetic procedure, and there are increasing reports of side effects as many procedures are performed. Various clinical manifestations of foreign body granuloma ranging from asymptomatic to erythematous multiple firm indurations have been reported. Histopathologic findings were mainly lymphocyte infiltration which showed granulomatous reaction in the dermis in various degrees. A 44-year-old female presented with non-tender subcutaneous plaques on the both cheeks. She was injected with filler (ellanse®) 1 year before at private dermatology clinic. She complained that skin lesions became increasingly stiffer and larger in size 2 months ago. Soft tissue swelling of both cheeks was observed on Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Complete blood count, with differential, routine biochemical analyses, ANA, RA factor, anti-CCP and anti-SCL-70 were all within their reference ranges. Histopathologic findings revealed infiltration of histiocytes and foreign body type multinucleated giant cells. Based on these results, she was diagnosed with foreign body granuloma. We repot a case of foreign body granuloma induced by filler injection.
