영토연구에 선행되어야 하는 사항은 정확하고, 객관적인 자료의 확보와 분석 작업이 중요한 비중을 차지한다. 영토연구에 있어서는 관보의 분석 작업이 선행되어야 한다. 특히 대한민국의 영토연구에서 필요한 시기는 1945년부터 1948년의 시기가 중요하다. 이 시기는 일본 제국주의로부터 독립하여 새로운 정부가 수립된 시기로서 이 시기에 대한민국의 영토가 어떻게 정립되었는지에 대한 객관적인 자료를 수집하여 연구하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이를 위하여 미군정기의 관보를 연구의 대상으로 하고자 한다. 이와 같은 법령들은 대한민국의 영토를 규정하는 데 큰 역할을 하였으며, 영토를 관리하는 기본이 되었다고 할 수 있다. 이들 관보들은 대한민국의 법령제정에도 크게 기여하였으며 법령제정에 큰 역할을 하였다고 할 수 있다. 향후 군정기의 관보들이 대한민국의 법령제정에 어떠한 역할을 하였으며, 영토문제를 정리하는데도 어떠한 기여를 하였는지를 연구해야 할 과제라고 사료된다.

Accurate and objective data acquisition and analysis are important parts of the territorial research. In the territorial study, the analysis of the Gazette should be preceded. The period from 1945 to 1948 is especially important for the territorial research of the Republic of Korea.
