세계화 추세로 인하여 이주노동자, 국제결혼이주자 등 외국인 인구의 수가 증가하고 있으며 한국사회가 더 이상 한민족으로 구성된 사회가 아니라 다양한 민족과 인종이 모여 사는 다문화사회로 변화되고 있다. 다문화가정의 특성상 의사소통 문제, 생활습관 및 양육 방식의 차이 등으로 인해 자녀양육에 있어 스트레스를 많이 경험하고 있으며 가부장적인 부부관계로 인한 결혼에 불만을 느끼기도 한다. 새로운 문화와 생활방식에 적응하는 과정에서 상당한 스트레스와 갈등을 경험하게 되고 이로 인해 가정폭력, 아동학대 등의 심각한 사회문제를 야기시킨다. 다문화가정의 아동학대는 학대라고 인지하지 못하면서 발생하고 있는 사례가 대부분으로 자녀의 훈육과 정에서 생기는 학대, 경제적 어려움으로 발생하는 사례들이 많았다. 다문화가정의 아동학대예방을 위한 대응방안을 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전국민을 대상으로 다문화 감수성 교육이 필요 둘째, 다문화이해교육의 전문성 확보 셋째, 다문화가정 부모교육 실시와 프로그램 개발 넷째, 아동보호기관의 다문화 전문 상담인력 배치 다섯째, 지역기관과의 연계 등으로 보았다.

Owing to the globalization trend, the population of immigrant workers and the settlers by international marriage is increasing, and Korean society is rapidly changing from racially homogeneous nation to multicultural society with multi-racial and multi-ethnic, accordingly. Given characteristics in multicultural families, the multicultural families are under a great deal of stress in communication, differences in lifestyle and parenting, and more than a few of them feel unsatisfied with the patriarchal relationship in marriage. They experience a lot of stress and feud in a course to adapt themselves to new culture and lifestyle, and it provokes the serious social problems such like a family violence, and/or a child abuse. Most of cases for child abuse in multicultural families happen with being incognizant with that it is the abuse, and those abuses come from in a process of parental discipline or financial difficulties. The countermeasures for child abuse prevention in multicultural families are followings. First, the education of multicultural sensitivity for whole nation Second, the securing professionalism at understanding-multicultural education Third, the development and practical application of parent education program for multicultural families Forth, the deployment of multicultural professional counselors to Child protective services Fifth, the close cooperation of the agencies concerned
