정의홍 시인의 『하루만 허락받은 시인』은 ‘책머리에’에서도 밝히고 있듯, 유신 독재 정권과 쿠데타로 권력을 찬탈한 전두환을 비롯한 신군부 세력에 대한 ‘비판·고발·저항 의 목소리’를 담고 있다. 시인은 정당성이 결여된 군사 독재 정권과 그 공모세력들을 비판하며, 그들이 스스로를 합리화하기 위해 주도한 기만적인 근대화로 인해 야기된 다양한 문제들-생태파괴나 전통적 가치의 훼손 같은―에 대해 고발하고 있다. 이러한 비판이나 고발은 시인의 도덕적 책임감과 사회적 책무에서 비롯된 저항이자, 이른바 ‘촉 바른 소리’이기도 하다. 이러한 촉 바른 소리는 일부 시편들을 통해 근대화의 과정 에서 막대한 수혜를 받은, 그래서 다양한 병적 징후들이 만연된 ‘서울’에 대한 비판과 독재 권력의 후원자 역할을 했던 외세, 즉 ‘미국’에 대한 풍자로 우회 혹은 확장되기도 한다. 이 연구는 군사 정권에 의해 주도된 근대화의 과정에서 야기된 다양한 문제 상황에 대한, 또 독재 권력 및 그 공모세력들의 기만성에 대한 사회적 책무로 창작된 일명 ‘촉 바른 시’들과, 여러 비평이나 시평을 통해 스스로 밝힌 시론을 연관시켜 정의홍 시인의 시세계에 대해 구명하기 위한 논문이다

A Poet That Has Been Allowed Only One Day by Jeong Ui-hong contains the "voices of criticism, accusation, and resistance" against the regime of Yushin dictatorship and the new military force including Chun Doo-hwan that usurped power through a coup as the poet mentions in its "Introduction." The poet criticizes the military dictator regime without the required legitimacy and its collusion force and accuses them of causing all sorts of problems - such as the destruction of the ecosystem and the damage to the traditional values - stemming from deceptive modernization they led to rationalize their power. His criticism and accusation is his resistance based on his moral responsibility and social accountability and also so-called "critical and right voice," which is detoured or expanded to the criticism of "Seoul," which benefited considerably from the modernization process and was thus ripe with various morbid symptoms, and the satire of the "U.S.A.," which represents the foreign power to sponsor the dictatorial power, in some poetry books. This paper presents an investigation into the poetic world of Jeong Ui-hong by connecting his essays on poetry he introduced in many criticisms and comments to the so-called "critical and right" poems created by social accountability for the various problem situations caused in the modernization process or the deceitfulness of the dictatorial power and its collusion force.
