본 연구는 손자녀를 양육하고 있는 할머니가 조부모 교육에 참여한 이후 손자녀 양육에 대한 인식과 가치, 태도가 어떻게 달라졌는지 분석함으로 ‘조모됨’의 변화를 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 서울과 경기지역에서 2015년 11월에 진행된 조부모교육에 참여한 할머니 6명을 대상으로 과정평가(Process evaluation)의 방법으로 조부모교육 프로그램 효과를 분석하였다. 면담, 현장일지, 연구자 저널, 기타자료 등을 수집하였고, 순환적 과정의 분석을 통해 결과를 도출하였다. 연구결과 참여자들은 세 가지 측면에서 변화되었다. 첫째, 가치관의 변화: 손자녀 삶의 조타수가 되도록, 둘째, 역할의 변화: 영향력 있는 할머니, 셋째, 관계의 변화: 할머니, 세대 간의 교량이다. 본 연구는 손자녀를 양육하면서 느끼는 ‘조모됨’의 의미를 재조명했을 뿐 아니라 손자녀 양육 지원을 위한 교육에 포함되어야 하는 교육내용을 제시해 주었다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the change in ‘grandmotherhood’ of grandmothers by analyzing how grandmother’s perceptions values, and attitudes have changed through educational programs. The effect of education programs for grandparents was analyzed by means of process evaluation based on 6 grandmothers who participated in the program from November 2015. Data was collected through interview, field records, researcher's journals and other sources. The results were derived through analysis of the cyclic process. Participants demonstrated changes after receving the education program, in the following three aspects: first, change of values, to be the helicopter of life for grandchildren. Second, change of roles, and being an influential grandmother. Third, change of relationship, where the grandmother become a bridge between generations. The significance of this study is to reflect not only to reexamine the meaning of ‘grandmotherhood’ while raising grandchildren, but also to suggest the contents that should be included in education for supporting grandchildren.
