This paper focuses on consideration Zheng-Min’s existence in poetry and revealing his historical view. Zheng-Min is a Chinese modern poet who was born in 1923 and has been working so far. She considered the creation of poetry which reflected philosophy important. So she created a poem with an intense interest in the existence of life. In addition, her poem expresses an optimistic world view. These elements reflect her unique poetic characteristics with other modern poets.
As you know, all existence of life beings are closely related to time and space. Therefore, this paper analyzed the characteristics of Zheng-Min’s time consciousness and spatial consciousness. First, let’s look at her time consciousness. Time is passing, and in this life all life is dead. So we have a potential fear of time. But she says it is not necessary because time is just a change. She says that if we are aware that we are present, time can stay in the present forever. Next, her space consciousness is as follows. Space is divided into inner space and outer space. The inner space can be called the body, and the outer space can be called the universe. She says that because our bodies are universes, we are like the universe. The universe is a purposeless space, and we must enjoy our freedom without being bound by right and wrong.
In particular, she expressed her unique values of history. She said that Chinese modern history gave the people a great deal of suffering, but nonetheless the people have endured the history silently. History is variable, but people’s vitality is eternal. History is developed by the vitality of these people. Therefore, we can have reconciliation and hope for history. Even though I can not agree with her historical point of view, I think her poem has significance in the sense that she gave a message of freedom and hope to those who suffered from the past.
