본 논문「교육경영에 대한 자율적 패러다임의 적용 가능성 연구」는 오늘날의 교육개혁 취지와 방향에 따라 교육기관 경영에 있어서의 자율성과 책무성 확보를 지원하기 위하여 연구되었다. 따라서 선행연구 및 자료를 분석하였고, 교육기관 경영을 설명할 수 있는 다양한 모형들 중에서 교육 자치의 이론적 배경이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단되는 자율적 교육경영 모형으로서 학교단위 책임경영제(School-Based Management, 이하 SBM)를 주된 분석의 대상으로 삼았다. 오늘날 세계 각국에서는 교육과 학예에 관한 행정적 권한이 중앙정부와 지방교육당국으로부터 점차 각급학교로 위임되고 있다. 이를 교육자치 혹은 자율적 교육경영이라고 한다. 이러한 국제적인 추세에 부합하여 교육경영의 새로운 패러다임으로서 자율적 교육경영을 두고 이를 지원하는 이론에 대하여 연구하는 것은 교육학적으로나 교육기관 현장에서의 실천적 원리의 설정 면에서도 의미 있는 시도라고 본다. 현대적인 교육기관 경영 모형으로서 자율적 교육경영 모형의 적용가능성을 탐색하기 위하여 전통적인 교육경영 모형들로부터 최근의 모형에 이르기까지 다양한 교육경영 패러다임에 대하여 분석하였다. 이러한 시도를 통하여 자율적 교육경영 모형의 특징과 현실적인 대안으로서 SBM을 탐색함으로써 교육의 질 제고를 위한 시사점을 주고자 하였다.

This study, based on precedent studies on the Autonomous Educational Management Paradigm and models, is school autonomy in this study is a form of educational autonomy which is practiced in line with the changes in educational environment and demands and educational reform trends on the global scale. It is a primary level educational autonomy where schools pursue autonomy, democracy and effectiveness, and are responsible for educational management and output of educational activities, on the condition that educational management authority is transferred from educational administration bodies to educational agents. Educational autonomy in Korea has been the result of co-function of ideological base such as 'domestic and overseas educational reform effort' and ecological base such as 'improvement of leadership of principals and expertise of teachers' and 'active parents' participation' and organizational and structural base such as 'legislation and amendment of laws on education and school autonomy' and basis for the implementation and improvement such as 'evaluating education agent autonomy by educational administration bodies'. Organizational resources such as national ideology, laws, educational policy and office regulations and human resources such as teachers and students etc. and material resources such as facilities, equipments, tools and budget and circulating resources such as time, knowledge, information and technology are utilized in educational activities through school purpose and developmental plans, detailed implementation plans, educational management plans of each area and organization of planning and operation department which are fixed by Teachers' Committee, the decision-making body, and School Council, the consultation body.
