본 論文은 한국의 대학원에서 공부를 하고 있는 한국어 학습자들의 要約文 분석을 통해 학습자들이 要約을 하는 데 있어서 어떤 問題點과 어려움을 가지고 있는지를 알아보고 이에 대한 要約하기 敎育 方法을 생각하기 위한 것이다. 要約하기는 學問 目的의 學習者에게는 매우 필요한 쓰기 능력이나 실제 要約을 잘하는 것은 쉽지 않다. 그것은 요약하기가 학습자의 理解 能力과 産出 能力 모두를 요구하기 때문이다. 학습자들의 要約文을 분석한 결과 학습자들은 주어진 텍스트에서 중요한 부분을 選擇하는 것에 어려움을 가지고 있었다. 또한, 凝集性의 측면에서 문제를 드러냈고, 주어진 텍스트에 나온 표현을 그대로 활용하여 要約을 하려고 했다. 따라서 학습자들에게는 제시된 자료에서 중요한 부분을 選擇하고 이를 어떻게 統合하여 한국어로 표현할 것인지에 대한 교육이 필요한 것으로 보인다.

By analyzing the difficulties and the errors in the korean summary of a group of graduate students who are advanced Korean language learners, this study aims to find out a more effective instructional method for summarizing. Most of advanced Korean learners nowadays study KAP (Korean for academic purpose) and they have to write reports and essays. For this reason, summarizing is an important skill that they have to acquire. Most of the learners, however, find it difficult due to the characteristic of summarizing, as people have to possess an high level of comprehension and expression ability. Therefore, there are implications for korean writing education through analyzing the summaries of korean learners. The results of the study indicate that students have difficulties in choosing the important points from the material. Students also seem to have difficulties in connecting sentences and using conjunctions. Third, students make summaries quoting the expression of the material rather than using their words. Accordingly, they need to study how to choose the important points in the text and to express their ideas in korean naturally when they make a summary. For this, students should practice many things including finding main points, incorporating the main points into the summary and connecting sentences and using conjunctions.
