이 연구는 국내 대학에서 修學하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 基礎敎育의 필요성을 제시하고 그 방향을 摸索해보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 2000년 들어 그 수가 急增한 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들이 국내 대학에 들어와 성공적인 學業修行을 하기 위해서는 한국어 능력의 향상도 중요하지만 그 외에 기초학문탐구능력의 培養이 필요하다. 그러나 이제까지의 한국어 교육에서는 한국어 언어 교육에 치중한 나머지 학문하는 데 필요한 수학능력 배양에는 큰 관심을 기울이지 못하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자에게 提供되어야 할 기초능력을 비판적 사고능력, 의사소통능력, 문제해결능력으로 설정하고, 이러한 능력을 訓練할 수 있는 기초교육 교재 개발의 必要性을 제시하였다. 그리고 구체적인 교재의 구성안을 교재의 기본이 되는 敎授理論, 교재 구성 원리, 單元 구성, 活用 텍스트로 나누어 제안하였다.

This study aims at presenting necessity of basic education and its direction for foreign students, for academic purposes. The population of foreign college students are increased tremendously by the year 2000. It is necessary for foreign students not only to cultivate their ability of basic study inquiry skills but also Korean language in order to achieve a successful results. However, little attention have been paid to promote basic study skills for foreign students because main interest is deflected only to acquire Korean language only. This study shows three main purpose of basic education: ability of critical thinking. capability of communication and capability of problem solving and explains the necessity of ideal basic education textbooks for foreign college students for academic purposes. In addition this study suggests the direction of textbook development with theory of teaching, principal of textbook composition, unit composition, and contents.
