이 연구에서는 고전소설 『박씨전』을 대상으로 주인공인 박씨의 형상을 밝히고 인물 형상의 서사적 의미를 분석하였다. 『박씨전』은 역사적 사실을 배경으로 하면서도 허구 인물인 ‘박씨’를 중심으로 서사를 전개하고 있다. 박씨는 서사의 주요 인물이자 주동인물로 박씨의 다양한 형상은 서사적 의미를 형성하는 데 영향을 미친다. 박씨의 형상은 ‘탈관습화된 여성’이자 ‘세계를 매개하는 이인(異人)’이라는 측면으로 나누어 살펴볼 수 있다. 구체적으로 박씨는 ‘추모현녀형 여성’, ‘남성화된 여성’이면서 ‘초월적 존재의 대리인’이자 ‘사실세계 이면의 허구적 능력자’이다. 인물의 이와 같은 형상은 ‘남성중심주의에 대한 비판과 여성의 잠재적 능력 신장의 가능성’, ‘현실의 패배에 대한 소극적 위안과 낙관적 역사 전망’이라는 작품의 서사적 의미와 밀접하게 관련된다. 인물 간의 관계를 통해 드러나는 박씨의 형상과 의미는 향후 연구를 통해 보충하고자 한다.

This study is about the figuration of character and the narrative meaning of the classic novel Parkssijeon. Among the various characters, Parkssi is a major and main character of Parkssijeon and the figuration of character is closely related to the narrative meaning. The figuration of Parkssi can be analyzed in many ways. Specifically, Parkssi is an ugly but wise woman, also a woman with the same ability as a man. She is a representative of destiny and a person with a hidden power. The figuration of unfixed woman shows the potential of women and criticize male centrism. The figuration of world-mediated existence gives comfort to defeat in real war. And it show an optimistic view of history.
