본 연구는 맨체스터 유나이티드의 황금기를 장식한 Busby Babes가 상징하는 축구사적 의미를 해석하기 위해 진행되었다. 이를 위해 Busby Babes와 관련된 1, 2차 자료를 고찰하였고, 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, Busby Babes의 출현은 구단의 시스템과 감독의 선수운용 철학이 합작해 낸 결과물이었으며, 혁신적인 지도자의 철학과 주변의 전폭적인 지원이 시너지 효과를 발휘할 때에 역사적인 발자취가 생성될 수 있음을 시사하는 사례였다. 둘째, Busby Babes의 역사적 의미는 유망주 발굴과 유소년 축구정책 강화를 통해 어린 시절부터 팀의 철학을 실천할 수 있는 인적 토대를 강화하고 이를 기반으로 세계적인 클럽으로 성장할 수 있는 문화적 토양을 마련한다는 팀의 정체성을 형성한 점과, 황금기를 맞이하던 시기에 닥친 뮌헨 비행기 추락사고의 시련에도 불구하고 그 위기를 성공적으로 극복하였고 이를 계기로 세계적인 축구 클럽으로 발돋움 할 수 있을 만한 감동적인 스토리텔링의 주인공이 되었다는 점이었다.

This study is aimed to illuminate the meaning of Busby Babes in history of M.U. To meet the purposes of the study, an literature survey on the primary and secondary sources of Busby Babes. The research outcomes are as follows. First, the emergence of the Busby Babes was a result of a joint venture between the team's system and the director of the coaching staff, and suggested that the innovative leader's philosophy could create a historic footprint in the event of a synergy effect. Second, the historical significance of Busby Babes has strengthened the human foundation to reinforce the team's philosophy of developing a team of young people from childhood and strengthening youth football policies, thereby forming a team of cultural soils that can grow into world-class clubs. Also despite the ordeal of the Munich plane crash, successfully overcame the crisis and became a touching story of moving forward to become a world-class soccer club.
