동한 시대의 왕부는 경제문제로부터 당시 동한 사회의 근본과 말단이 도치되어져 있는 사회적 현상을 직시하고, 이러한 현상이 실질적으로는 정치적인 문제를 반영하고 있다고 생각했다. 그래서 왕부는 이러한 문제에 대한 언급의 대상을 일반인 계층에 국한하지 않고 통치계층에까지 확대했던 것이다. 또한 왕부는 동한 사회의 모든 계층의 사람들이 하나같이 자신이 수행해야 할 임무와 직책에 충실하지 못했기 때문에 사회적 가치관의 혼란이 발생하여 사회와 정치질서의 파괴를 초래하고, 그러한 결과 동한 사회를 혼란의 도가니로 만들었기 때문에 이를 바로 잡고자 `무본론`을 주장하게 되었던 것이다. 왕부가 제기한 `무본론`의 중점은 두 가지 측면에서 언급되어질 수 있는데, 그중 하나는 경제이고 다른 하나는 도덕교화라고 파악하고 있다. 즉 농민과 상인 및 공인(수공업자)은 경제문제를 고려하고 사인(선비)과 신하는 도덕문제를 고려해야 한다는 것이라고 보고 있다. 결국 왕부가 주장한 「무본務本」의 경제정책은 근본과 말단에 관한 가치관의 명확한 정립을 통하여 당시 사회의 위기국면을 극복하고자 한 것이 었다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 위기상황에 대하여 왕부가 제시한 구체적인 해결방안은 크게 두 가지 측면으로 요약할 수 있다. 즉 하나는 경제방면의 농업정책 장려문제로 왕부는 `시간을 아낌`과 `백성과 토지가 서로 균형을 이룸`이라고 하는 의견을 제시한다. 다른 하나는 정치방면의 윤리교화문제로 왕부는 `도덕교화`와 `유능한 인재의 등용`이라고 하는 이론을 제시했다.

Wangfu in the East Han Dynasty period looked squarely the social phenomenon of inversion of the basis and the termini of the East Han society at that time due to economic problems and thought that the phenomenon was actually reflecting political problems. Therefore, Wangfu did not limit the subject of references of such problems to the general public but did expand to the ruling class. In addition, since Wangfu thought that people in all classes in the society were not faithful to their duties and positions they should perform leading to the confusion of social values resulting in the destruction of social and political orders thereby making the East Han society into a crucible of chaos, he became to assert `Wubenlun` to correct the situation. The key points of the `Wubenlun` raised by Wangfu can be mentioned in two aspects. One of them is understood as economy and the other is understood as moral edification. That is, he regarded that economic problems should be considered for farmers, merchants, and artisans (craftsmen) and moral problems should be considered for scholars (classical scholars). Eventually, the economic policy of `Wuben`asserted by Wangfu can be regarded to have aimed to overcome the critical situation of the society at that time by clearly establishing the values regarding the basis and the termini. The specific solutions presented by Wangfu for the critical situation as such can be largely summarized into two aspects. That is, one aspect is the issue of agricultural policy encouragement in the field of economy and Wangfu presented opinions such as `time should be saved` and `people and lands should be balanced with each other.` The other aspect is the issue of ethical edification in the field of politics and Wangfu suggested theories, `moral edification` and `appointment of competent talent`.
