본 연구는 인간문화재 제 27호 승무 예능보유자였던 벽사 고(故)정재만류 승무가 그의 사후에도 그 가치를 이어갈 수 있도록 승무에 담겨진 미적 사유방식과 계승적 가치에서의 교육적 의미를 조사하고자 하였다. 이는 사라져가는 한국문화의 우수성을 재인식하고 전통춤의 지속적 연구와 체계적인 한국 춤 자료를 구축할 수 있는 데에 도움이 되고자 한다. 정재만류 승무를 조사한 결과 이에 담겨진 미적 사유방식은 아래와 같이 여섯 가지로 설명되었다. 첫째, 정재만류 승무는 춤의 동선과 춤사위 활용에서 중용미(中庸美)가 강조된 춤이다. 둘째, 정재만류 승무의 춤사위표현은 담박미(憺泊美)가 중심을 이루며 미니멀리즘과 같은 간결함이 강조되는 춤이다. 셋째, 정재만류승무는 무대 공간의 활용이 높은 춤으로 `공간구성미(空間構成美)가 돋보이는 춤이다. 넷째, 정재만류 승무의 표현적 아름다움에는 절제미(節制美)가 내제되어 있다. 다섯째, 정재만류 승무는 스승과 제자 간 실천적 예(禮)를 중요시하는 예(禮)의 미를 갖추고 있다. 여섯째, 정재만류 승무의 교육철학은 유교적인 예법과 중용(中庸)의 법칙, 삼재(三才)사상, 불교의 윤회사상 등의 철학적 사상을 담고 있다. 이 외 에도 정재만류 승무가 지닌 교육적 의미는 한국 춤계에 역사적 계승성이 높은 춤이며, 삼대를 이어오는 과정에서의 성(性)의 차이로 인한 춤의 발전적 변화가 있으며 인생을 되돌아보는 자기성찰의 의미를 지닌 올바른 교육의 전승적 의미를 지니고 있다. 이러한 연구를 통해 전통춤의 올바른 계승과 교육 체계화에 도움이 되고자 한다.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the aesthetic the genealogy and the educational meaning on succession value-end of the Seungmu of late Byuksa Jungjaeman. This is ultimately to help enhance awareness on the excellence of Korean culture, which is disappearing, and to sustain continuous studies on traditional dance, as well as to establish firm data basis on Korean dance. The results are as follows: First, Jungjaeman line Seungmu stresses on the moderation beauty. Second, the beauty of simplicity, in terms of eastern perspective, is defined as the beauty of neat and pure with calm surrounding, as well as the beauty of auesterity without any greed. Thirdly, the beauty of space, through the Jungjaeman line Seungmu, has led more structuring in stage and more expanded beauty of stage space. Fourth, in the beauty of expression I would reflect his/her entire life. Through this is aimed at towards proper pass down and systemization in education on traditional dance.
