본 연구는 그간 중점적으로 다루어지지 않았던 인식론적 신념이 독자 신념과 다문서 읽기(전략)에 미치는 영향 관계를 구조적 관계를 확인한 연구 이다. 주요한 연구 결과는 세련된 인식론적 신념이 교류적 독자 신념에 영향을 미치며, 이를 매개로 정교화 전략 사용에 직접 효과 및 간접 효과를 지닌다는 영향 관계를 밝힌 것이다. 세련된 인식론적 신념은 교류적 독자 신념에 영향을 미치고, 이에 따라 정교화 전략 사용에 직접 효과 및 간접 효과를 모두 지닌다. 따라서 읽기 교육에서는 다문서 읽기 상황에서 중요한 요인으로 인식론적 신념을 다룰 필요가 있으며, 인식론적 신념을 고려한 다문서 읽기 교수·학습 내용이 마련되어야 한다고 보았다. 또한 영역 일반적인 요인으로 다루어진 인식론적 신념 요인과 읽기 상황에 구체화된 `독자 신념`의 변인을 함께 고려할 필요성을 강조하였다. 본 연구를 토대로 다문서 읽기에 영향을 미치는 영향 요인에 관한 다각적·심층적인 후속 연구가 이루어지기를 기대한다.

This study explored Influence of Epistemic beliefs on Reader beliefs and Multiple-Text Comprehension Strategies through Path analysis. Epistemic beliefs are associated with reading development and reading performance. They influence students` approaches to the cognitive skills and strategies that students use, and the stances readers take toward text. Epistemic beliefs affect Multiple-text comprehension strategies, too. The main results of this study are as follows. 1) A sophisticated epistemic beliefs directly affects the “transaction beliefs” of reader beliefs. A sophisticated epistemic beliefs have an indirect effect on elaboration strategies through transaction beliefs. sophisticated epistemic beliefs do not have an indirect effect on accumulation strategies through transaction beliefs. 2) A transaction beliefs of reader beliefs effect on elaboration strategies 3) A sophisticated epistemic beliefs have a direct impact on elaboration strategies and accumulation strategies.
