본고는 조선 중기에 살다간 인재(?齋) 최현(崔晛: 1563∼1640)의 「금생이문록」의 성격과 구성을 바탕으로 연구한 글이다. 성격 면에서 보면, 첫째 이 작품은 장르상 몽유록계 소설이다. 둘째 이 작품은 허구가 아닌 실화를 바탕으로 하고 있다. 셋째 이 작품은 작자가 명시(明示)되어 있다. 넷째 작가가 이 작품을 쓰게 된 동기를 분명히 드러내고 있다. 이 소설은 크게 세 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 도입부(導入部), 전개부(展開部), 결말부(結末部)가 그것이다. 도입부는 자아가 입몽(入夢)하기 전까지의 상황, 전개부는 자아가 입몽한 뒤 사건이 전개되는 과정이다. 이 부분은 말 그대로 자아가 꿈속에서 전개되는 여러 가지 사건을 서술하고 있다. 실제 이 소설의 핵심을 이루고 있다. 결말부는 자아가 각몽(覺夢)한 뒤의 상황을 서사하고 있다. 이 작품은 몽유록계(夢遊錄系) 소설의 형식을 빌려 자아의 지향의식(志向意識)을 서사하고 있다. 이 소설의 전개방식은 평면식(平面式) 또는 나열식(羅列式)이다. 이 소설에서는 등장인물에 대한 묘사가 뛰어났다. 등장인물들을 통하여 작가 자신의 지향의식을 표출하고 있다. 이 소설에서는 시가 핵심을 이루고 있다. 작가가 삽입시를 통하여 자신의 생각을 묘사하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 그 시를 통하여 그의 지향의식을 표출하고 있다. 작품의 문학사적 의의는 다음 몇 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째 이 작품은 작자가 명시되어 있다. 둘째 자신이 출생한 고을에 대한 자부심을 표출하고 있다. 셋째 이 소설에서의 자아의 심리가 안정되어 있다. 넷째 작가인 최현(崔晛) 자신이 유학자이며 올곧은 선비라는 것을 드러내고 있다. 다섯째 이 소설의 창작 목표가 명시되어 있다. 여섯째 그 갈래가 전기(傳奇)에 해당한다. 이 작품 뒤의 여러 작품이 나오게 되는데 이 작품이 일조(一助)하였다.

This thesis examines the structure and meaning of InJae Choi Hyun`s Geumsaengyimunrok. The distinguishing feature of this work is a branch of a description of sleepwalking. This work based on not fiction but nonfiction. The author this work was known to conspicuously. This work is organized three parts. Namely, the part of introduction, development and conclusion. The part of introduction is come within before the narrator falling in dream. The part of development is described of the narrator`s dreamworld. The part of conclusion is narrated awaking from dream and returninioig to realities. This work was described the consciousness of inclination of the narrator. The formalities of development of this work is enumerative or planic. The distinctive feature of this work was well describing of character. The consciousness of inclination of the author`s was described by the characters. The core of this work is the poems which were included in the work. The included poems were described the poet`s consciousness of inclination. The significance of history of literature can be summarized with several things. The author of this work is exposed distinctly. The narrator described of self confidence of his hometown where he was bone. At this work, the mental state of narrator was kept quiet. The narrator described the author was the righteous of classical scholar. This work influenced next generation`s works.
