In the past 15 years, Africa has experienced its fastest-ever period of growth, averaging 5.1% year-over-year for the last decade. Africa in 2050 would be home to some 2 billion people, with a productive and skilled workforce of 1.1 billion. By 2050, average per capita income would increase six-fold to over US$17,000, moving from one quarter of the global average to one half. Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) will be pivotal to this exciting Africa`s bright future. The international community has been emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in achieving the sustainable development goals that were adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit in 2015. In 2016, Korea government presented a new direction for Korea`s future Official Development Assistance (ODA) activities, with an emphasis of “Science and Technology and Innovation for Better Lives” Korea has been transformed from a recipient country of official development assistance to a significant donor. Korea`s development success was possible through strong investments in science, technology and innovation, and extensive state intervention. Therefore, STI Cooperation between Africa countries and Korea would be very meaningful for both countries, and Ubuntu, an African wisdom will make this cooperation more meaningful and successful. With the Ubuntu concept, the Korea-Africa Bio S&T Forum was begun in 2012 for developing a functional model of S&T, R&D Korea-Africa cooperation.
