특수교육법이 개정됨에 따라 자폐성 장애의 조기선별은 우리나라의 시급한 과제가 되었다. 본 연구는 문헌을 통해 자폐성 장애의 영아기 특성을 알아봄으로써 국가적 과제를 해결하는 데에 기초적 자료를 제공하고, 나아가 교육현장의 교사들에게 자폐성 장애 영아 교육에 대한 지식을 제공하기 위해 시도되었다. 문헌검토를 통해 정리된 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자폐성장애의 영아기 특성 관련 연구는 비디오테이프 자료 분석과 형제자매 관찰, 다수의 영아 검사를 통한 전략이 많이 사용되고 있고 각각의 장단점이 있다. 둘째, 영아기자폐성 장애 선별검사는 사회적 상호작용과 감각관련 내용 위주로 구성될 필요가 있다. 셋째, 영아기자폐성 장애 선별검사는 12개월을 전후로 나뉘어 구성될 필요가 있다. 넷째, 보다 어린 영아의 선별검사일수록 감각관련 문항이 포함될 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 보다 나이든 영아의 선별검사일수록 3차원적 상호작용, 연합관심공유와 같은 더 복잡한 상호작용에 관련된 문항이 포함될 필요가 있다.

As Special Education Act are being revised, the early screening of Autistic Disorder has become an urgent issue for Korea. This study, by examining the infant and toddler characteristics of Autistic Disorder through literature review, is an attempt to provide fundamental information for solutions of the national issue and further to offer knowledge regarding the education of infant and toddler with Autistic Disorder to the educators of the field. The summary of the examination of records is as follows. Firstly, the research of infant and toddler characteristics of Autistic Disorder is mainly done through the analysis of videotape, the observation of siblings of children with autistic disorder, and the inspection of a large number of infants and toddlers; with each method having its own strengths and weaknesses. Secondly, it is necessary for the infant and toddler Autistic Disorder screening checklist to consist primarily of contents in relation to social interaction and perceptive skill. Thirdly, it is necessary for the infant and toddler Autistic Disorder screening checklist to be divided into age-groups of before and after the age of 12 months. Fourthly, the younger the infant and toddler is, the more sensory related questions are required to be included in the screening checklist. Fifthly, for the older the infant and toddler, the more questions relating to more complicated interactions such as triadic interaction and associated joint attention are required to be included in the screening checklist.
